Project Scope:

To evaluate the benefit of using worms to break down kitchen waste and garden waste to produce compost and therefore organic fertiliser for the school. The project will be Implemented at Lebone ii Independent schools where 10 plastic units will be placed into the garden and kitchen waste will be placed inside together with the worms that will break down the waste to compost. The worms and the eggs will then be moved to a new unit  which will be watered regularly to produce organic fertilizer all year round.The project will be implemented in phokeng from January 2013 to April 2013.

In scope:

  • Selection of the right worms for composting. 
  • Prepare worm bins/containers 
  • Monitoring of the feedings very carefully
