The Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN) ICT Department will implement a wireless spine around the RBN regions and villages. The spine is a wireless network infrastructure that will ensure distribution of the Broadband services to the RBN regions and to benefit institutions within a region such as Schools, Clinics etc. The Bafokeng rural villages are distant and not visible to each other geographically, we will implement the wireless spine consisting of high-sites in deferent regions originating from Bafokeng Civic Centre connecting clients on Client Premises Equipment(CPE) units to provide a point to point for our High-sites and point to multi at a client level. The implementation of service is aligned with RBN key strategic objective of centralizing shared services in order to cut cost within the Bafokeng nation Institutions. The spine will provide the following benefits:

In Scope: 

• The system over the years and in development phases should provide high availability, secure and reliable data connectivity to the RBN regions and institutions around.
• The spine will serve as a backbone for wireless accessibility of Broadband services by local institutions (clinics or schools etc.) in the regions.
• The implementations of spine will be based on the operations of a publisher and a subscriber method, where there will be erection of masts/ sectors at identified High-site and installations of CPE's at a client level.
• The spine will assist in distribution of applications or programmes to various institutions of the RBN regions.
• The system also Contributes to centralising of ICT services for cost-effective services on Voice and Data distribution to the regions.

The initial scope of the project was to erect high sites at Tsistsing, Kanana, Bleskop and Rasimone which is not a true reflection of the work that had to be done, as the Tsistsing, Kanana and Rasimone were already in existence. They only thing that had to be done on them was an upgrade and replacement of old parts. Rasimone was supposed to be an upgrade of the Antenna’s and to expand the service to more sites. The Tsitsing one was not working because it was dependent on the Kanana site, which was not working due to the Eskom cable theft issue. The newly erected site was the Bleskop one, of which 50% of the work was done. 

The project was not scoped and planned correctly hence the succeeding project manager decided on cancelling it and redoing it in phases. This will allow the manager to manage it successfully. This project will be completed as is, however under installations, a 100% now means that only 50% of what needed to be done in those activities was done.
