The day's purpose is to honour Nelson Mandela's legacy and encourage people to take action for 67 minutes to improve the world and create a worldwide movement for good. The 67 minutes symbolically represents the number of years the former president fought for human rights and abolish apartheid. Health and Social Development Services (HSDS) department will commemorate Mandela Day at Otshepeng Old Age Centre on the 18th of July 2024 to honour Nelson Mandela's legacy by engaging with the elderly through service delivery (painting, planting seeds, and donating hand-made knitted crafts).
