To offer out of school youth in 5 RBN regions who have passion for agriculture an opportunity to be trained as small scale farmers. Out of school youth, i.e. 4 from every region will be appointed through interviews and be placed on a one year contract where they will be trained and requested to establish vegetable garden in their respective households with support from othe departments. They will also be trained on business management to prepare them as entrepreneurs.
In scope:
Recruitment of 30 out of school youth who have passion for agriculture
Identify service provider to conduct farming training.
Appoint service provider
Phase 1 training of youth to become small scale farmers
Creation of a pool of potential small scale farmers (from the Mpintshis)
Procurement of garden equipment as a start-up
Basic Business Management training (The Business Place)
Development of food gardens
Information sharing session with youth farmers and Agricultural experts
Phase II training of backyard farmers
